Joe is a physical and fundamentally sound defenseman with great footwork. He relies more on his body than his stick to cause turnovers, but I think that is a better place to start for a young pole. He is great on the ground, and is athletic enough to run in transition. I’d like to see him add a little more finesse with his stick checks, which will make his takeaway ability even stronger.
