Ashton is a standout defender. Her field awareness is phenomenal because she is always coming up with the 50/50 ground balls and seeing the play develop before it happens. She makes an impact on the draw circle with her height and creates a lot of turnovers by knocking down opponents’ passes. Her ability to handle pressure and make smart decisions in the clears results in securing her team possession into their offensive end. Ashton will continue to fine tune her defense stance and absorb that pressure and driving her opponents out with her legs. She is also extremely versatile in utilizing both hands and when she runs midfield her shots on cage are powerful.
