Jake has great timing on his checks, and gets takeaways without throwing a million checks. He has good body positioning 1v1, and moves his feet well instead of relying on his stick to do the work. He's good on the ground, but I didn't see much of him in transition so couldn't give him a higher grade there. He's good defensively, so if his open field work is up to the same standard he'll be a solid young defenseman.
